REVIEW:

Back in the middle 80s the Stones didn't tour after Dirty Work and all the members pursued solo projects, Ron Wood coupled with legend Bo Diddley to tour USA in 1987 and Japan and Europe in '88. This audience recording comes from Pistoia, Italy Blues, a festival that hosted the Diddley-Wood entourage for a night on July 1st. The concert starts with the backing band, then Bo Diddley comes on stage and does play three songs when it is time for Ron Wood to join the lot. Songs performed go from Diddley anthems to a solo spot that includes a medley of Faces/Stewart & classic tunes ("Gasoline Alley", "Little Red Rooster","Ooh La La") and a song he wrote for the Stones ("Black Limousine"). The show ends with a double encore of "Money To Ronnie", a blues written by Bo Diddley for Ron Wood -and Bobby Womack "It s All Over Now" that is sung by both. People in the audience were going a bit too crazy and Bo had to ask repeatedly not to push on the barriers and not to throw anything on stage. The video is not one of the best, probably because it doesn t come from a master or 1st Generation: it is anyway watchable and presents good time rock and roll played with confidence by Bo with good help from his friends. Ron Wood is in a joyful mood, enters the stage with a drink in his hand (seems like he had one too many before, according to his slurred speaking) and plays with his style that complements Diddley's outlandish attitude well. There is also a proshot (incomplete) recording of this show from Italian TV RAI, anyway this audience recording shows the colorful stage from a distance with some zooms in (at time out of focus) where a nice light show happened and the concert in its entirety.
